Bee Cave sits in Lake Travis ISD, where basketball matters and roster spots are earned. Our Bee Cave players come out of Bee Cave Middle School and go on to Lake Travis High School, which is currently the district’s only comprehensive high school.
That single-high-school setup is worth understanding as a parent. Every basketball player in the district is eventually competing for a spot on the same roster, which makes the pool unusually deep and the cut unusually hard. Kids who only play during the school season are at a real disadvantage against teammates who have been getting organized reps year round. Closing that gap is the reason most Lake Travis area families call us.
We do not operate a gym inside Bee Cave. Our south and central practices run at Austin Sports Center Central and Lively Middle School, both a short drive in from the Bee Cave and Lake Travis area, and we also see families from Lakeway, West Lake Hills, Spicewood, Steiner Ranch and Dripping Springs at those gyms. If a north-side schedule suits you better, Austin Sports Center Cedar Park, Henry Middle School and Round Rock Sports Center are also options. Little Hoopers runs ages 6 to 8, boys join teams in 4th grade and girls in 5th. Call 512-312-6283.

Bee Cave sits in Lake Travis ISD, where basketball matters and roster spots are earned. Impact Sportz was founded in Chicago by Lonnie Welch and Toron Clark and relocated to Austin, where we have coached Central Texas players since 2010. The players we enjoy most are the ones who come back season after season. Boys can join a team in 4th grade and girls in 5th, and our coaches keep the standards steady all the way through high school, so a Bee Cave family is not restarting every year with someone new.
If you are searching for youth basketball near Bee Cave, here is the straight answer: we do not operate a gym inside Bee Cave itself. Our south and central practices run at Austin Sports Center Central and Lively Middle School, both a short drive in from the Bee Cave and Lake Travis area. Families from Lakeway, West Lake Hills, Spicewood, Steiner Ranch, Dripping Springs and southwest Austin all train with us at those two gyms. If your schedule points north instead, we also use Austin Sports Center Cedar Park, Henry Middle School and Round Rock Sports Center. Call 512-312-6283 and we will help you pick the location that works.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there AAU basketball near Bee Cave, TX?
Yes. Impact Sportz runs AAU select teams that Bee Cave families join every season. We do not have a gym in Bee Cave itself, so our south and central practices are held at Austin Sports Center Central and Lively Middle School, both a short drive away. Call 512-312-6283 to ask about the next tryout.
Bee Cave players train at Austin Sports Center Central and Lively Middle School, our two south and central gyms. Both are a short drive from Bee Cave and are shared by families across the Lake Travis area. If a north-side schedule works better for you, we also run practices at Austin Sports Center Cedar Park, Henry Middle School and Round Rock Sports Center.
When is the AAU basketball season?
The main AAU stretch runs from February through July. That is when most select team practices, tournaments and travel happen. We also field fall and winter teams, so Bee Cave families who want year-round reps have somewhere to play between spring seasons. Call 512-312-6283 to find out which tryout is coming up next.
How young can my child start?
Kids can start at age 6 in Little Hoopers, which runs for ages 6 to 8 and focuses on fundamentals through games and drills rather than heavy competition. Team basketball begins in 4th grade for boys and 5th grade for girls and continues through high school. Impact Sportz has coached Austin-area youth since 2010.
That is what a lot of our families are after. Our coaches work on the things school coaches evaluate: ball handling under pressure, shooting form, defensive positioning and basketball IQ. Bee Cave players get a longer season and more competitive reps than school ball alone provides, and that shows up at tryouts.
Is AAU basketball better than high school?
AAU is an excellent outlet for fans and coaches to see top talent playing together in the same building. Compared to high school ball, there is only one game per night, and all of the top talents might not be playing that night.
How do I join an AAU team?
We have tryouts 4 times a year. Grades 4th through 8th have 4 tryouts per year. High School has 3 tryouts per year.
How much does it cost to play?
Costs vary by age group, season and how much tournament travel a team takes on. We would rather quote you honestly than post a number that does not fit your situation, so call 512-312-6283 or email impactsportz@gmail.com and we will walk you through exactly what a season looks like for your child.
