Round Rock is the one city on this list where we actually train inside city limits. The Round Rock Sports Center is one of our regular north-side gyms, so for Round Rock families there is no commute conversation to have. Practices, tryouts and plenty of tournament weekends happen right here.
Our Round Rock group pulls players from C.D. Fulkes, Chisholm Trail, Hopewell and Ridgeview middle schools, and from Round Rock High School, Stony Point and Cedar Ridge. Round Rock ISD is one of the larger and more competitive districts in Central Texas, and it shows in the youth game. Roster spots are genuinely contested, which means a player who only touches a ball during the school season is usually behind by the time tryouts come around.
That gap is why most Round Rock families call us. A longer season, more reps and tougher competition is the difference between hoping to make a team and being ready for it. Our groups also draw players from Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Pflugerville and Leander, so the level inside our own practices stays high. Little Hoopers is our starting point for Round Rock kids ages 6 to 8. Sessions run at the Round Rock Sports Center and our other north-side gyms, including Austin Sports Center Cedar Park and Henry Middle School. Coaches keep it simple and fun: dribbling, passing, shooting form and how to be a good teammate. Most of these players have never been on a real court before, and that is exactly who the program is built for.

Lonnie Welch and Toron Clark founded Impact Sportz in Chicago and relocated the program to Austin, coaching Central Texas players since 2010. The reason has not changed. Basketball teaches kids how to work, how to lose and how to show up for the people next to them. In Round Rock that means coaching Round Rock ISD families with the same standard, whether a player is chasing a varsity spot or just learning to keep their head up on the dribble. Boys join teams in 4th grade and girls in 5th, and we care about the player first and the scoreboard second.

Tryouts and practices run at the Round Rock Sports Center, plus Henry Middle School and Austin Sports Center Cedar Park a short drive away. Frequently Asked Questions
Where do Round Rock players practice and try out?
At the Round Rock Sports Center, right here in town, plus Henry Middle School and Austin Sports Center Cedar Park a short drive north. Those three gyms cover our north side teams. Locations for a given tryout or practice block are confirmed when you register, so you always know where to be.
Six for Little Hoopers, which runs for ages 6 to 8 and is the right entry point for a child brand new to the game. Team basketball starts in 4th grade for boys and 5th grade for girls and runs through high school. If you are unsure which group fits, call 512-312-6283 and we will help you place them.
When does the Round Rock AAU season run?
February through July is the main stretch, starting right after the school basketball season ends. That is when select teams travel and compete most. We also field fall and winter teams, so a player who wants to keep developing between AAU seasons has somewhere to go rather than waiting until spring.
Do you have girls teams in Round Rock?
Yes. Girls join select teams starting in 5th grade and train at the same north side gyms, including the Round Rock Sports Center and Henry Middle School. Girls can also start earlier in Little Hoopers at age 6 and stay with us through high school.
Probably not. Start with camps, Little Hoopers or small group training so your child builds real skills and comfort first, then try out when they are ready. Plenty of Round Rock kids come to us that way. Nobody is pushed onto a select roster before they want it.
Is AAU basketball better than high school?
AAU is an excellent outlet for fans and coaches to see top talent playing together in the same building. Compared to high school ball, there is only one game per night, and all of the top talents might not be playing that night.
How do I join an AAU team?
We have tryouts 4 times a year. Grades 4th through 8th have 4 tryouts per year. High School has 3 tryouts per year.
How much does it cost to play?
